Why I Don’t Fight the Chaos 🔊 (At Home or in the Markets)
"Dad, do this!"
"Dad, do that!"
"Can you help me?"
Try listening to three of them shouting this at once. It isn't just loud; it’s utter chaos. (Throw in the screams when one of them gets ignored)
In the heat of the moment, the instinct is to snap. To demand quiet. To "fix" the noise.
But recently, I’ve changed my perspective.
I realized that as a Dad, my role isn't static; it evolves as they age. Right now, they are at the ages where they need me.
This chaos? It’s part and parcel of the life I chose. (I had a 50% part in this after all...)
So, instead of fighting it, I’m learning to enjoy it. I try to keep the big picture in mind: My goal isn't to have a silent house; it is to bring them up to be the best versions of themselves. And to do that, I have to adapt my mindset.
Interestingly, this helps me at work, too.
The markets are incredibly noisy right now. "Buy this!" "Sell that!" "Look at this crisis!" It is hard to concentrate when the market noise is shouting at you constantly.
But just like with my kids, if you react to every little shout, you lose.
You have to keep the bigger picture in mind.
Ignore the daily noise. Focus on the long-term goal.
(And just between us? I’m secretly happy my kids still need me. The silence can wait.)
